Hi beauties! If we haven’t met yet, my name is Chelsea and I’m the face behind the lifestyle blog: The Millennial Miss. TMM is a single source destination of inspirational yet relatable content. I’m so thrilled that A Stronger Version Of Her asked me to share one of my favorite articles with YOU!

One thing that Millennials complain about more than the job market is the dating scene. I would bet money (some, not a lot) that if anyone were to walk into a room full of twenty somethings that the major topic being discussed would be revolved around the dating scene.
Omg it’s just sooooooo hard to meet someone normal.
Ugh, I stayed up all night drafting up a text response to him.
I’m destined to be a cat lady; no one meets my criteria.
If you’re reading this, I need you to prepare yourself for what I’m about to write.
Maybe, just maybe, some of the dating issues we experience as twenty something’s are self-inflicted.
WHAT? NO CHANCE.
Well, let’s break it down a little further and take a deeper look into the 4 annoying things that twenty something’s do when dating.
Decoding Text Messages
If you are about tell me that you have never spent an excessive amount of time decoding a text message from someone that you’re interested in I’m going to call bullshit. We have all done it. I’ve done it, my best friends have done it, the girl sitting next to me at the coffee shop while I write this has done it. For whatever reason, it’s just what we do. We screen shot a text message and send it to 50 of our closest friends and ask them to put their detective glasses on to collectively analyze the placement of a period. When you break it down, it’s a little insane yet in a twisted way it’s totally valid. How are we supposed to decipher a tone in a text message anyway? Is he excited to make plans or is he actually blowing me off? THE TEXT COULD BOTH WAYS.
Well, one crazy solution to the above mayhem is to PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL THE PERSON. I know it seems so early 2000’s but not having voice communication it’s one of the most annoying and insane things that we as generation do. Half of the “issues” we go through dating could be resolved in half of the time if we did the unthinkable and picked up the phone to hear someone’s voice instead of tossing and turning at night trying to decode the time frame he meant by saying, we will get together for drinks soon.
But, I’m So Chill
I don’t know when being totally chill become such a hot fad but if you ask me, I think it’s blatantly stupid. For whatever reason there is this notion that floats around the dating word that being chill is the ultimate. That being a girl who doesn’t express her opinion or emotions is the way to act. Let me jump in here and say that if you are in fact dating someone or striving to date someone who agrees with that mindset then sista friend, you gotta get the hell out of that relationship. Your voice, your opinions and your aspirations are valuable and should also be put on a pedestal directly next to his. You feel me on this? Being the ultimate chill girl is not necessary something to bend your back over.
Social Media Investigation
Besides spending too much time deciding on what outfit to wear, what is the one thing that all millennials do before going a date? STALK. STALK. STALK. We spend an enormous amount of time scrolling through their social media pages and tagged photos. We put our best effort forward to find his EX and see what she’s up to now. We spend so much time behind the screens trying to find out all the information we can about someone instead of going into a date ready and excited to learn about their life. That’s kind of a backwards, wouldn’t you say?
Let’s go on a date,
